Responsibilities: financial supervision of Housing Corporations with a high to very high risk profile. Introduced and implemented a new Risk Management and Review System.

Responsibilities: Supervision of a 'Food' orientated business in cooperation with the accountant. Regular monthly management meetings regarding finance, organisation, purchasing, sales and employees.

Risk Manager (interim)
Responsibilities: made a blueprint of the new risk management organisational structure for a Trading company en the roles, responsibilities, limits and control structure, risk reporting, alerting and escalation possibilities.

Project:

Adviser at a Securities Institution (interim)
Responsibilities: to carry out the quality review (job-specific final inspection) during the structuring process of the administrative organization of a back office. With this review Alsofi contributed to the set-up of a shared service centre for the processing of securities transactions.

Project:
Organizing Operational Risk management within a bank (interim)
Responsibilities: to implement and embed the Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework into an organization in accordance with Basel 2 (Standardized and AMA). Many aspects were involved. Important items: ORM implementation and communication plan, to increase risk awareness in the organization, to define core processes, to supervise the risk analyses of the core processes, to realize a governance structure, to combine and organise the relationship between Business Continuity Management (BCM) and ORM.

Project:
Writing an enterprise risk management framework (consultancy)
Responsibilities: to produce an enterprise risk management framework based on COSO 2. Alsofi created an innovative enterprise control framework for the financial institution concerned.

Project:
Setting up an audit department (interim)
Responsibilities: to set up an audit department for a private company with limited liability (BV) that is to be established. Alsofi's role consisted in maintaining contacts with the internal and external auditors. Furthermore, Alsofi took care of the entire process including the review of documents like the audit charter and the tender for the external auditor.

Project:
Assessment of an organization (consultancy)
Responsibilities: to assess the project organization for its quality of approach and existence and to elaborate the findings in an internal report to be discussed in the MT meeting. Result: enhanced insight into the status of a project and a number of go/no-go moments in the project plan in order to follow or adjust the aimed targets during the project.

Project:
Adviser at a real estate company (consultancy)
Responsibilities: to assess and optimize the in-house bank, i.e. the corporate finance activities, cash management and interest rate risk management of real estate projects. In this framework Alsofi assessed the in-house bank (i.e. to raise and to lend funds) on behalf of real estate projects. This survey resulted in a memorandum to the Board that after discussion was formally approved for the proposed points of improvement. These points of improvement included:

- Writing a policy for Financing & Real estate projects that was submitted to the board for approval;
- Drawing flow charts in Visio of processes of 'Raising and lending funds';
- Designing and organizationally setting up a loans administration in order to guarantee the reliability of loans information;
- Implementation of control measures in order to improve the control of the interest rate and loan settlements and the cash management activities;
- Elaboration of interest rate scenarios (e.g. subsequent cover, yield curve change) to complete the interest rate risk management, and introduction of these scenarios as a standard for the cost estimate of real estate projects.

Project:
Replacing a Treasurer at a Dutch mortgage bank because of Sabbatical leave (interim)
Assignment: responsible for Treasury & Control of a mortgage bank and a 'groenbank' (sustainable banking), direct reporting line to the board (client). Responsible for execution of the following treasury components: funding and interest rate risk management, provide relevant management information about the performance of both banks, make improvement proposals for the administrative organization of the treasury function, maintain good relationships with internal and external parties like the dealing rooms in Utrecht, Amsterdam and London; the legal and tax departments at head office; the internal audit department; group control; Achmea; retail banks and external ICT service providers.

Project:
Termination of an 'agaath bank' (consultancy)
Responsibilities: gradually closing the accounts with respect to outstanding debts and raised funds of an 'agaath bank' because of the discontinuation of its financing activities. This had to be carried out observing the minimum taxable balance sheet ratio set by the authorities. For this purpose Alsofi has developed a scenario model, in order to be able to check on a daily basis whether termination of the activities with respect to assets and funding is 'under control'. Where necessary, management was able to intervene in order to keep complying with the requirement of the minimum balance sheet ratio.

Project:
Supporting the treasury controller in his function (interim)
Responsibilities: to support the treasury controller of a mortgage bank because of the treasury/control function requiring 2 FTE. Alsofi was asked to provide support on a temporary basis. Tasks included among other things: interest rate risk management and funding of the bank, reporting on current securitisations, providing assistance in year-end activities, carrying out cost accounting activities of a broker, describing the treasury function (AO/IC), wholesale banking: handling contractual claims or claims relating to interest calculation.

Proposal for MIS architecture and a demo in MS Access (consultancy)
Objective: to make a proposal for the design of a Management Information System and building a demo in MS Access.

Search function: professional for mid corporate (outplacement)
Responsibilities: to seek a professional with an accountancy background who can set up an internal audit department. Alsofi found and placed this professional in cooperation with an experienced recruiter.

Search function: professional for SAP implementation project (outplacement)
Responsibilities: to seek a professional with an accountancy background and experience with SAP implementations. Alsofi found and placed this professional in cooperation with an experienced recruiter.

Project:
Search function: operational risk manager (outplacement)
Objective: to seek an experienced risk manager who can organize operational risk management in a financial institution. Alsofi introduced and placed an experienced interim risk manager from its own network.

Valuation of wholesale company (valuation)
Responsibilities: to perform a business valuation for a wholesale company in order to give the managing director and majority shareholder an indication of the value of the company.
